Foto-Harry.: A store you can trust!

Now this is an electronic store you can trust. Harry, the owner, goes out of his way to help. The store is open all day (no siestas) from 10-22. Icelanders shop here as they know they can trust that they will not be deceived here as in so many other electronic stores in Playa del Ingles. People have even returned home with empty cameras or paid a fortune for worthless stuff. So this is where we go to get a good deal. I would guess that every Icelander going to Gran Canaria ends up visiting Harry and his signs are in Icelandic as well and his counter is covered in Icelandic business cards.

Harry went out of his way to find me a special item I was looking for and I will definitely be visiting his store in my future travels.

What to buy: Foto-Harry specialises in electronics of all kind, but next to his store he owns another store which specialises in clothes.

Visanta.: A store you can trust?

Visanta is a chain of electronic stores, which the tour-guides recommend as a store you can trust. I liked it when I entered that I could just browse without being "attacked" by sales' people like in so many stores in Playa del Ingles. I found 3 things I was looking for and the salesman wrote them down on a receipt which I was to take to the till. I saw that he wrote down false prices for 2 items and corrected him on one account and for the 3rd item I was not certain what the price was. I went to verify that the price was correct and it wasn't, so for all the items he wrote the wrong (more expensive) price. I pointed it out to the saleswoman at the till but she didn't speak English and called another salesperson and he didn't speak English as well, very convenient in a store at the large touristy Jumbo center. I couldn't be bothered with this as there was a queue so I paid what they asked. I had a coupon for an exclusive gift (their words) for purchases over 30 euros and asked for it and when I opened it at the bungalow the exclusive gift turned out to be a small Christmas light-set of 50 cents worth.

I tried one of the items I bought when I got back home, a travel sewing machine, and it was broken.

I am very disappointed with my dealings with this shop and will not shop there again. I hope other customers have different stories to tell though.
