San Fernando Travel Guide: 9 reviews and 53 photos
San Fernando is right above Playa del Ingles and gives a good contrast to the hotels and tourist-area of Playa del Ingles. Here are the schools, local swimming pool, local church, cultural center, official buildings and local cafés and shops. Wherever I go I always look up places like this to get the feeling of what it is like to live in these areas. San Fernando is multicultural due to the closeness of Gran Canaria to Africa and you meet people of various ethnic backgrounds here.
San Fernando is a fun town to walk through as it is so full of life. This school is opposite the swimming pool and very close to the Park of San Fernando and the church. There are also 3 shopping centers in San Fernando, Ronda, CC San Fernando and Bellavista (see my tips) and supermarkets, including Eurospar and Mercadona. Many tourists from Playa del Ingles come here to do their shopping as this is a cheaper area than Playa del Ingles.
The building style here is different from the tourist areas of Gran Canaria, of course, this being a residential area, I add more photos from San Fernando in travelogues here.
- In a nutshell:A pure residential town as opposed to the tourist areas.

Sounds like a good area for shopping. Thought the Kebabs were a good price!
Yes, it is very good for shopping. Friends of mine life there, would love to go there soon.
I very much enjoyed your wonderful tips and the wonderful tour! Neat page!
Good to visit a residential town where the local people live, not only the tourist places.
Intersting tips in your San Fernando website
Great pages, great tips and great photos. Juliana
I love walking around residential areas as well, trying to imagine how it is to live in a place permanently. It just makes you dream about a different life in a different place:-D....
The big question is did you try the pool?
I hope that your holiday was not just shopping ;))))
