SKI.

I stayed in Ski for 2,5 months. It is a small town in Norway with ca 29.000 inhabitants. It belongs to Akerhus county - region Follo.

There is not much going on here, but there is a big mall, which is the center of Ski - it was just opposite the block of flats were I was staying, so I went there often and didn´t feel that I was in a small town. There are also lots of other stores in Ski, so even though it is a small town it is buzzing with energy.

Ski is 24 km from Oslo in zone 2 with very good transportation. There are 3 trains going from Ski to Oslo and the train station is just next to the shopping center. Ski is the last station on zone 2, so if I wanted to travel to Moss f.ex. which I did a couple of times, then it would cost me a lot by train.

Ski is very close to TusenFryd, which is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Norway - a big amuzement park.

The official website of Ski is Ski kommune The name Ski has nothing to do with skiing, but derives from the old norse word Skeiði meaning a running track for horses. In Icelandic we are still using "ð", but the Norwegians don´t use that any more. We use an Icelandic word "skeið" having to do with horses running. The Ski coat of arms are 3 horse-heads.

Yes, I keep hearing that Norway is a very expensive country. But I still want to go back there sometime.
