"Beautiful little community" San Pawl il-Bahar by mickeyboy07

San Pawl il-Bahar Travel Guide: 7 reviews and 30 photos

Saint Paul's Bay is situated on the North-East coast of the island of Malta sixteen km west of Valletta. Its name refers to the shipwreck of Saint Paul,as documented in the'Acts of the Apostles',that Saint Paul was shipwrecked on the island when on voyage from 'Caesarea to Rome' The Maltese people believe it it was Saint Paul who lay the foundations of Christianity on the Island.
Although a town itself some consider the local towns of 'Bugibba,Qawra,Bidija,Burmarrad and Mistra to all fall under the banner of Saint Paul's which do come under the local council of Saint Paul's.

The resident population is over 14,000 but rises to over 50,000 during summer months mainly due to Maltese summer residents and tourists, especially in 'Bugibba and Qawra' as Saint Paul's itself is a lot quieter and doesn't have as many hotels and apartments.Saint Paul's island sits at the very tip of the bay with a statue of the saint in the middle, from here you can see the nearby islands of 'Comino and Gozo'.
The waterfront here is a lot prettier than nearby 'Bugibba' with its palm trees and stone walls and is a great place to walk at any time of day.
