Budapest

Chain Bridge
Just returned from Budapest last week. Had wanted to visit for a while now, but the wait was worth it. Beautiful city, not quite on the scale of Prague in the quantity of beautiful landmarks, but in quality is up there with anything I've seen previously.
View from Gellert Hill (Buda)

Main Sights on the Buda Side

Although most of Budapest's visitor attractions are located on the Pest side of the Danube, no visit to Budapest would be complete without a visit to Castle Hill.
The Hill is home to the Royal Palace, Matthias Church and Fishermen's Bastion as well as boasting some great views over Pest.
Gelert Hill is also located on the Buda side of the city and from the Citadella you can enjoy spectacular views over the city, even on overcast days!

Main sights on the Pest side

The majority of tourist attractions are located on the Pest side of the city including the neo-Gothic Parliament buildings which are hugely impressive.
Just strolling through the city unearths many other hidden gems. Andrassy Ut is an immense Boulevard which stretches from the river all the way to Heroes' Square.
The Terror Mueseum on Andrassy út is well worth a look for an insight into Hungary and Budapest under Nazi and Communist rule.
Heroes Square and the surrounding area at the end of Andrassy is very scenic and the impressive zoo is one of the oldest in the world. The city park (Varosliget) is a lovely area to stroll through and contains a small lake, ice rink (winter) and the impressive Vajdahunyad Castle.

Excellent Budapest page with lovely photos. Budapest is in our list of cities to visit in Europe. The City Park, Citadella, Terror Museum and Heroes Square sound wonderful and interesting to visit and explore. ~ho & pang

Excellent observations over Budapest!! It seems to be a good investment, to buy a wooden Rubik box. Best. Laszlo

Brian, fabulous little page. On my second visit to Budapest I also had dinner in the Paprika Etterem. I remember that they had massive portions there. I am glad to read that your 10 Euro are still safe in the Rubix Box. *winkygrin*
