Any visit to the Florida Space Coast may include sun, surf and seafood. But one of the biggest lures to this area is the region's role in America's space program, and the epicenter of that rests in the middle of a wildlife refuge on the Sunshine State's East Coast.
The Kennedy Space Center is a powerful place to visit, and not just on launch days either, when humans must stay three miles away from the launch pad on Cape Canaveral while the power of an atomic bomb slings astronauts into the final frontier. It's really a humbling experience to get up close to the rockets that have propelled man(and woman)into space. More than 22 million each year flock to the only site in the Western Hemisphere that launches human beings into the heavens. |
