Georgia, affectionately called the "Peach State", is the largest state of east of the Mississippi River. The five most prominent regions are the North Georgia Mountains, the Heart of Georgia, Plains Country, the Coloial Coast, and the Atlanta Region. The beauty of Georgia is reflected in the scenery and in the people. Beautiful waterfalls, fall color and historic peaks dot the scenery in the North Georgia Mountains. Places such as Rock City in Lookout Mountain offer a spectacular view of seven states on a clear day. Georgia's Native American's are represented at the Etowah Indian Mounds, Chieftain Museums and New Echota. Georgia is the 10th largest state in the nation, according to 2000 census figures. Georgia was the only state east of the Mississippi to grow more than 25 percent. |
