When people hear the word Egypt the first thing that comes into their minds are, Pyraminds, Sphinx, Desert. But for me I see "Shawarma".
Shawarma in my country is very dry and bland, but when you go anywhere in Egypt the Shawarma simply melts in your mouth! Very delicious indeed, you must try it.
So if you go to Egypt, don't forget, have a nice afternoon break with a tasty Shawarma.
Welcome to Egypt, Where's my tip is my main motto for Egypt.
It happened during our first visit in Egypt, when we still were to naive with our surrondings. There was this man that suddenly approaches us and tells us he can lead us to the way to the Pyramind.
My family so naive agreed with his offer, boy an offer that will cost us a wooping 200$!
The man brought us to the back entrance of the pyramind and on the way there my mom even told him, "Did you know that your our GUARDIAN ANGEL!" Oh my mom so naive like how Eve fell for the serpent.
And soon he brought us to his friend, and offered us the tour around the pyramind for 200$. My parents agreed to his offer and justified their answer saying that "well this is like going to Disney Land anyway."
So he toured us around the pyraminds with each of us riding a camel or a horse, I have to admit it was fantastic! Maybe this tour is worth it after all!
After the tour ended we baded the man goodbye, but the next day we went back to the pyraminds on our own and "TADA!" we find a billboard saying "Tours around the pyramind with a camel, 30L.E! (10$)" (as of 2005)
My mom wanted to cry! She even tried to justify that atleast we toured the whole afternoon. Oh well, atleast now we know much better!
"When we go to Egypt, we will only eat Koshari because its cheap!" I remember mom saying before we left for Egypt. So we all had to put in our minds that Koshari shall be our best friend in Egypt.
It was not until we had our first bite of koshari. At first we all said wow, this is sooo good! My mom even claimed that we will have it again for dinner!
Honestly it was not so bad. Its ingredients are just, well.... interesting?
The next day we had the same thing, "KOSHARI!" I really dont know why but looking whats it made of just kinda well...ruins my appetite. and thats when i notice that i was not the only one who was bothered by its ingredients but my whole family was too. We finally gave up the Koshari and went for a KFC, mom never fullfilled her promise in eating Koshari everyday.
Koshari, I will not forget you indeed.
- Pros:Shawarma Haven! Majestic atmosphere!
- Cons:Crossing the streets could be challenging!
- In a nutshell:Egypt, Land of the Shawarma!
