Restaurant Name: La Fabrica
Very typically "madrileño". You eat either standing at the bar, with a caña (glass of beer) in one hand a a fork in another, or, if you're tired after hours of visitting the Prado seated at a table. The waiters are friendly though very busy. They will always help you if you ask for advice on what to have.
Favorite Dish: Don't miss their "habitas con jamon", the best in town.

Restaurant Name: Milba
Like many locals from the area, you can eat a very good lunch there. Ambience is "from the past", very strange. Food is fresh and well served. Full every day, come at 1:45 to be sure to get a table.
Favorite Dish: Food of the day = plato del dia.

as it was years and years ago!
Favorite Dish: judiones, rabo de toro, bacalao a la portuguese, calamares en su tinta, etc........all is good.

One should not eat a paella in Madrid. Full stop. Well well...........Think again about it : Café Balear is not bad at all. Reasonable paella, excellent cava, nice and cosy atmosphere, efficient cuban waiter, not a big bill, in the city, what else? Try it!
Favorite Dish: Paella. Stuffed aubergines or zucchini.
