Mai Thai: Thai food in Cologne

I wouldn't normally visit a Thail restaurant when on holiday (would normally go for local cuisine) but it was my birthday and I thought I'd treat myself.

Mai Thai turned out to be a great traditional thai restaurant with the usual friendly service.

Favorite Dish: Mixed starter which consisted of a variety of things -: spring rolls, satays, battered prawns etc.

Chocolate Museum: Great cakes

The refectory at the Chocolate museum does good resaonably priced food . . . and even better cream cakes!

Favorite Dish: I had grilled lambchops with chips and stew.

But the best bit was the white chocolate cream gateau.

Hey it's a chocolate museum - what do you expect!

Neumarkt: For a snack

There are loads of food stalls in Neumarkt. As we were walking through, we saw these potato cake things being fried and we were curious enough to try them.

Favorite Dish: The potato-cake/fritter. Looks like shredded potato that's then fried and served with bacon (see pic).

Restaurant Heumarkt: Good hearty food!

Great restaurant. I ate here twice in 4 days!

A very family and child-friendly restaurant with air-conditioned areas. It is a good choice for a full meal in a friendly and casual environment. Try one of the stews, entrées, or a delicious appetizer for a lighter meal.

Favorite Dish: I started with the goulash soup - served with bread - tasty and warming!

The farmer's platter! If you like meat then this one is for you! It's like a mixed grill served with sauerkraut and veggies.

The 2nd time I had the schnitzel . . . think it was served with chips. It was pretty good anyway.
