I highly recommend canoeing in Phang Nga Bay. This normally involves taking a large boat out into the bay (usually from the east coast of Phuket). A typically trip will normally visit 4 islands. You're transported to each island by the large boat and transfer to the canoes to explore each island. Canoeing is the only way to explore these islands properly! Most tour companies serve lunch and snack aboard the large boat and will take you to an island where you can just lay on the beach.

Some of the best dive sites in the world are neat Phuket Island. I did a trip (two-tanker) to a spot off Koh Racha Yai. Visibility was good, even though the sea was a bit rough. I saw lots of sea-life, dozens of sea cucumbers, and even a small ray. Unfortunately my trip to Similan got called off because of foul weather.

Directions: There are loads of dive operations in Phuket. So there's plenty of oppurtunity to go diving!

Pay a visit to the local market in Phuket Town. Then you get to see the whole range of Thai produce - fruits and vegetables. I fell in love with some of the local fruits, namely look yee, rambutan and tamarinds. And I had the biggest guavas ever . . . they weren't so sweet though.

If you're not into scubadiving and would still like to experience the underwater life, then try the submarine. The dives are off of the Southeast coast of Phuket where there is quite a lot to see. A speedboat takes you to the submarine - the ride is a bit long but it's bearable. I slept on the way back. When I was there in 2004, it cost 2500baht for an adult. I got a massive discount cause I was there in May and it's not peak season.

Phromthep Cape is the southern-most point of Phuket Island. This is a great and quite popular place to see the spectacular view of the Andaman Sea and the sunsets.

I fully agree, Phangna is just great. we also stopped in the floating restaurant to eat delisious sea food. |
