Travel Year 2006

Trans-siberia railroad!
I've done it!
Just back from my trip through China Mongolia and Russia.
Flew out to Shanghai, spent 4 days there, then flew to Beijing. After 4 days in Beijing, I then took the train to Ulaan Baatar in Mongolia. Spent 3 days in Mongolia - mostly in the rural areas. Spent the last day in UB and took the train to Irkutsk in Russia. Spent 3 days there - visiting Lake Baikal.

Then took the train to Moscow. Spent 3 nights there.

Now I'm back home again. Back to reality.

Now to think about my next adventure . . . hmmm.

Brazil, anyone?

I've got this idea that I could take 6months off work and travel. It started off as just an idea but I find myself thinking more and more about it.

2008 is the year I think I'd be able to do this if I start planning now.
I think I'd travel in Latin America and the Caribbean. And I'd like to do some volunteer work related to my profession (civil engineering). I'll probably be travelling alone.

I'm not sure what countries I'd visit but I've always dreamed of visiting Belize and Cuba.

I've never done anything like this before so I guess I'll need some good advice and the best way to plan such an adventure.
