for culture vultures edinburgh has everything, dozens of museums showing you everything from local history to that of the ancients, we have dozens of world class art galleries, we have world famous castles and palaces, edinburgh is also home to some world famous writers from sir walter scott(waverley, ivanhoe, the heart of midlothian), robert louis stevenson(dr jekyll and mr hyde, kidnapped) arthur conan doyle(sherlock holmes),to more recently irvine welsh(trainspotting, the acid house stories), j k rowling(harry potter) and ian rankin(rebus stories, the falls, knots and crosses, fleshmarket close) ive had the pleasure of driving mr rankin home in my taxi. one of edinburghs best features is the size of the city, its big enough to be anonymous but small enough to get around very very easily. add that together with the friendliest people in the world thus making a truly wonderful city. i hope you visit soon. |
