| Can Wall Street stay bullish? |
The sculpture by Di Modica is one of the most popular tourist destination for visitors to the Financial District. The charging bull with flaring nostrils that are rubbed for good luck by many traders each morning, locates just in front of the Bowling Green Subway Station. It often appears in the local news media to punctuate stories about optimism of Wall Street and of the market prosperity. After the financial collapse of 2008 I am curious, whether the charging bull can help Wall Street, to stay bullish. One thing however is sure, Santa Claus did not visit Wall Street in the year 2008!

| | New York, New York It was a great experience visiting New York for the first time at Christmas 1993. I felt as if I would have been there already due to having seen most of the sights so many times already, since the city's attractions are so widely publicized in magazines, films, TV and books. I flew from Budapest to New York by a Jumbo Jet. The bus trip from Newark airport to downtown Manhattan offered beautiful preliminary views of the famous skyline. There is so much to see in the city that you would spend many weeks here. The subway is very efficient, although the network could be meshed more finely. The twin towers were of course still there at that time and their gigantic size and elegance was awesome.

| | NYC Ball Drop - Countdown on Times Square Celebrating the New Year in Times Square is a classic way to spend New Year's Eve. Times Square is not only the place to be on New Year's Eve, but the site of the Dropping the Ball tradition as well. An event where millions of people are waiting for watching the huge crystal ball, the symbol of the new year being lowered to the ground from the flagpole atop One Times Square. When you enter the area, you should cross the police checkpoints where all the items being considered dangerous will be taken from you. Then at 11:59 p.m., as the Ball begins to lower, all the people start the countdown the final seconds of the year. More >>

SLLiew Sun Aug 30, 2009 20:04 UTC You have seen a lot of NYC. I was impressed by the stretched out limousines parked next to a trolley lady picking up through the trash. Business suits rolley skating to office. It is a special kind of place crammed into one island called Manhattan. | marielexoteria Sun May 24, 2009 13:27 UTC Your definition of baseball is spot on! | joiwatani Sat May 9, 2009 15:49 UTC For some reason, I haven't been to New York City yet! I have been to the upstate New York! | jumpingnorman Sat May 9, 2009 05:52 UTC Never heard of Flatiron, but will look it up and the larger-than-life bronze statue of famous storyteller Hans Christian Andersen -- next month when we go to NY. The kids/wife already booked a Broadway show Little Mermaid. 911 was really sad...Norman :) |
