Vacation under the midnight sun

Juhannus Celebrations on Seurasaari
Midsummer is a really important celebration for the Finns. Helsinki is going
to be totally empty, people are at their country cottages and shops, restaurants are closed.
So you should provide in time from your food and drink, if you do not want to spend much money.
Streets of Helsinki ?

The Finnish drivers

Many of local drivers tend to drive as if they would be a Raikkonen and the streets of Helsinki would be the Hockenheimer ring or the Indianapolis Speedrome.
They think at the traffic lights, the yellow light means still green, and the red is only pink, and pink, of course, does not mean anything!
Keep your eyes on the signs to make sure of the exact limits and any special conditions that apply. The limits may be reduced in bad weather conditions or for newly qualified drivers.

But these rules concern only you, onto the "local F1 competitors" not!!!
Uspenski Cathedral

Largest Orthodox Cathedral in Western Europe

Located in the Katajanokka district, Uspenski Cathedral was completed in 1868 as the largest Orthodox church in Western and Northern Europe. With its golden cupolas and redbrick facade, the church is a clear symbol of the Russian impact on Finnish history.
The Cathedral designed by a Russian architect of the Tsar of Russia was built in Greek Orthodox style in the years 1862-1868, when Finland was part of the Russian Empire. The three-storied belltower is constructed at the southern side of the Cathedral. read morel

Great little page, Laszlo! Brings back nice memories, I once even stayed at the same hotel :-) I suspect you are Mika & Kimi combined ;-) After painter and author I only miss Sibelius... In Uspenski C. I feel like in the night sky... Sissi
