An [as yet] undiscovered paradise Camiguin Island sits just north of the oh-so-scary Mindinao. Maybe because of its proximity to the home of the very real Abu Sayf separatist movement threat, foreigners avoid the place. Which is good for someone like me, because I get to enjoy the glorious natural beauty of the island without a lot of crowds. This is NOT a party place, but somewhere to get away from it all, relax and enjoy.
This place lives up to the promise Palawan has as an adventurer’s paradise. There are volcanoes to climb and even an extinct one to dive, hot and cold springs to enjoy, the incredible White Island in all its pristine glory, hiking, biking, the quiet pleasures of enjoying some flora and fauna or just the enjoyment of doing nothing at all.
This place is a must for nature lovers, especially underwater nature. It has been compared to Hawaii due to its volcanic history, but I dare to say that this is even more beautiful… |

Your photos are lovely. | crewrower Fri Dec 5, 2008 07:25 UTC Thanks for the tips. I'll have 3+ days in Camiguin in late January. The lack-of-wildlife tip is especially helpful (save time by not looking for what's not there). | kikalena Wed Nov 12, 2008 08:30 UTC wow, what a wonderful sunrise:)! the island seems to be a paradise, wonderful pics, I'll be back for more here soon when I have time to read your tips.
