Khajuraho’s “Kama Sutra in stone” is a testament to love, romance and sex. It’s also one of the most impressive works of art even compared to the intricate carvings of Angkor Wat. Khajuraho is made up of two major temple groups. The more popular one is at the center of town and exhibits a fine display of the Kama Sutra. The intricate interior design is similar at all the temples, but in Khajuraho town, the largest can show how deep this can go.

It would take many months of study to see everything carved here, so it is useful to have a good guide or at least a guide book. Some of the most popular items are easy to spot, but the story behind the story is often of most interest.

The less popular “eastern group” is worth a look for the true aficionado. It is both smaller and much less crowded, so it also ends up being a good place to buy souvenirs at a bargain.
