Fun in the Sun! Our Family did a Timeshare exchange into the Palms in Puerta Plata Dominican Republic. This was to be a learning holiday for our family. Our daughters are in their 20's and found it very hard to believe that people lived so poorly in other countries. We had wonderful accomodations, keeping in mind that their 4 star rating is about a 1 or 2 in North America. We had a villa that opened onto the ocean, with 3 bedrooms and complete kitchen & living rooms. We had great food, and met many wonderful friends who were vacationing there as well. The beaches are breathtaking and the sunsets are unbelievable. We did alot of sightseeing, and toured the city. We went to the Rum Factory and also toured a sugar-cane plantation. The poverty in this part of the world is truly unbelievable. It tears at your heart and made our children want to give away their clothes & shoes to the kids who had nothing. |
