I know everybody knows about Le Pigalle neighborhood and the pickpockets. I'm a dozen-plus times visitor to Paris and France and was guiding a friend on a tour last time. As we took the Metro approaching the Moulin Rouge, I blurted out to my companion "This is the Pigalle. It's the center of pickpocketing in the city, so check your wallet!" He looked down, and his fanny pack was hanging open. Buh-bye. Oops. Just like in comedy, timing is everything. And I KNEW better. I just kicked myself. Metro Lines 2 and 12, stop Pigalle.
