"Heaven in Lake Victoria" Banda Island by cococelina

Banda Island is a tiny, private owned island in the Ugandan part of Lake Victoria and not far from Kalangala.
If you manage to get there, which is not too easy and you also manage to make friends with the crazy owner so that you are actually allowed to stay there for some time and not be drugged and sent off unconscious in a fisherboat - you will have the best time of your life. At least if you have learnt to appreciate things like time, peace, beer, food, nature and company.
The owner, Dominic is a very unique kind of person you will not come across often, especially not on the mainland where the kind is considered crazy...
He is though a very intelligent, educated, opinionated, kind, warm, caring and friendly person. But since he does not need the money he makes of the Banda business he reserves himself the right to "uninvite" unsociable and unfriendly people.
This practice makes your stay (given you are not one of the bad people) even more pleasant since you will be surrounded only by people who made it through the "wankerfilter". Given the size of the island and the fact that meals (and most drinks) are taken together, it makes it much more enjoyable to hang around pleasant people all day.
All in all it is a beautiful place with - most of the time - very nice people, a phantastic variety of nature, quite a high amount of luxury (hot water, flush toilet, phone reception, very clean beds...) and a generally perfect surrounding.
