A TINY CITY ON THREE HILLS This beautiful tiny city was created by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala when he was expelled from Shimla, the summer capital of India during British rule. The little village of Chail was then developed by the Maharaja as his own summer capital. It is a beutiful place about 40 kilometers from Shimla, siuated on three hills and surrounded by Deodar forests. He also built a beautiful palace here, which is now converted to a hotel. The palace was built on Raragarh hill. The British Residency was built on Pandhewa hills. The palace was originally planned to be built on Sadh Toba Hill. However, the king later changed his mind and made a magnificient temlpe on this hill. |
