Perinthalmanna is a small town with a population of around fifty thousand people.This place is located in Malappuram district, Kerala State, India. It was the erstwhile capital of erstwhile princely state of Valluvanad. The ruler of Valluvanadu was called “Valluvankonthiri”. Calicut (Kozhikode), Trichur (Thrissur) and Palghat (Palkkad) are the major cities near to Perinthalmanna. All these three cities are around 70 kilometers from Perinthalmanna and are well connected by roads.

Perinthalmanna has a strong historical and cultural heritage. This place is major trading centre. This town Perinthalmanna is known as a city of hospitals as there are many super specialty hospitals situated here. It has four super specialty hospitals viz. Al Shifa, M.E.S Hospital & Medical College, E.M.S. Hospital and Valluvanadu Hosital. These hospitals attract lot of patients from all over India and even from abroad as the treatment charges are relatively low.

The biggest attractin of this town is the 11 days “Pooram Festival” of Thirumandhamkunnu Temple. Over a million people come to this place during Pooram festival. Lot of devotees come from all over Kerala to visit this temple. There are many other places of worship to people of all religions.
