The valley of Srinagar mesmerizes every one with its splendid beauty. Srinagar is a very important destination from tourism point of view. In Srinagar, you can visit the famous tourist attractions, such as Mughal gardens, Dal Lake, Hazrat Bal Mosque etc.. Set amidst the fresh water lakes, and providing marvellous view of fountains and mountains, the splendid gardens of the state provide a gateway to the paradise on earth. Kashmir is considered the richest in gardens, consisting of numerous maple trees, refreshing fountains and countless blooming flowers. Gardens like the Shalimar Bagh, Nishat Bagh, Chashmashahi, near the panaromic Dal Lake and enchanting hills, have made their mark as successful tourist spots. Despite being around for centuries, these gardens are admired by tourists from all over the world.
Gulmarg's natural beauty, prime location and proximity to Srinagar naturally make this place one of the premier hill resorts in India. This place was originally called ‘Gaurimarg’. Its present name was given in the 16th century by Sultan Yusuf Shah, who was inspired by the sight of its grassy slopes emblazoned with wild flowers. Gulmarg was a favourite haunt of Emperor Jehangir who once collected 21 different varieties of flowers from here. Today Gulmarg is a mountain resort of exceptional beauty. It has the highest green golf course in the world (altitude of 2,650 m). It is one of the country's premier skiing resort in the winter.
