THE SILENT GREEN PARADISE

The picturesque hills, lush green valleys and pleasing water bodies makes Wayand a very unique place. There is lot of scope for adventure tourism and eco-tourism in and around Wayanad. Sultan's Battery, Kalpetta and Mananthavady are the three major towns in Wayanad dostrict. Decent hotels and resorts are available at all the three main towns.

The etymology of the word Wayanad is Vayal (paddy) Naad (land); 'Land of Paddy Fields'. There are many indigeneous tribals in this area. It is set lofty on the majestic Western Ghats with altitudes ranging from 700 to 2100 Metres above mean sea level.
