Weekend away with mates - could it get any better? We decided with a couple of friends to have a short break in the middle of our studies to enjoy the wonders of travelling and to see something else besides the rainy, grey autumn days in Finland. Actually, we made this decision in the middle of glowing summer while having a bbq during the Midnight Sun but atleast we were right - it was windy, rainy and grey when we left Finland. Choosing the destination wasn't too difficult as my friends left me in charge of everything and gave me a free hand in everything, so our trip was pretty much sorted in a day or two. Ok, so 4 days (or three to be exact, from Thursday to Monday morning) wasn't that much but we decided to just look around a bit, not to rush anywhere and just enjoy the weekend. None of us had visited Prague before (for me it was a long dream come true) and for one of my friends it was the first time on a plane so we were all pretty excited about everything we saw and experienced. And on top of everything, my class mate lives in Prague (she's Erasmus student there) so I got to meet her and she gave us some excellent tips about where to go and what to do. Turned out Prague was even prettier than I thought and I can't wait to get back there :) |
Our itinerary Arriving on early Thursday evening we had a few hours to spend so we explored the surroundings of our hostel and walked around Václavské Námésti a bit. On Friday we circled around Old Town and had a bit of siesta before hitting the clubs. To be honest, we were trying to find Karlový Lazne, the biggest disco in Central Europe, but instead we found this great small bar in Old Town and stayed there the whole night. On Saturday we managed finally to get to Karlový Lazne after shopping around Old Town and falling asleep in the opera :) Finally on Sunday we managed to make our way to Malá Strana, but in the evening we were too tired to hit the clubs; instead we had a few quiet drinks in town and left Prague in the morning after a good night sleep. |

| Pros: | "Cheap city (except for clothes and shoes), architecture, nightlife, culture, all the history that's present" | | Cons: | "Customer service is bad (which in a way I understand), lots of pickpockets (I hear), lots of tourist traps" | | In A Nutshell: | "A city with all that history is definitely worth visiting!" |
