"Thank goodness for Rapo's Resort" a Himare Travel Page by salmayo

After the disappointment of Dhermi, I was sure that Himara would restore my hope that all would go well with the vacation in Albania.

I was wrong!

The road between Dhermi and Himara was considerably worse than northern part of the Vlora-Saranda arterial. The scenery was quite lovely but the driving was hard work. The descent into Himara seemed to reveal complete chaos.

The hotel which seemed more than acceptable in the guide book was abysmal. Well, to be fair, the hotel was not that bad, but the mountains of rubbish and the smell around it was terrible. The room that the owner showed us was dingy and seemed as though it would be noisy (next to the restaurant with a speaker right outside the door). It wasn't the quaint seaside lodging that we were dreaming of...

There was nothing for it! Retreat to the 90 euro a double Rapo's Resort like a couple of foreign correspondents reporting on a war zone. It was everything it was supposed to be!

We didn't even go down to the seaside the following day. We had seen enough the previous evening to know that it would be disappointing: like all the other beaches we had seen so far, covered in rubbish.

We managed an outstanding day of indulgence and relaxing around the pool before heading off in the late afternoon for Jal!
