Cordoba in General

Cordoba is Argentina's second largest city. Though it is only 700 km (435 miles) away from Buenos Aires, it may as well be a world away. Less hurried, less crowded, considerably cheaper and pleasantly laid back. Cordoba doesn't usually rank high on most tourist's radars, and truthfully, it should.

Cordoba as a base

I used Cordoba as a base from which to explore other sights in the province. it is a useful springboard for seeing the historic Jesuit estancias, the low sierras to the west of the city, the higher mountains. I was crazed to see Argentina's newest national park, Quebrada del Condorito, more than anything else to see the condor. (see my Villa Carlos Paz tips for that)

Transportation connections to the rest of Argentina are excellent as Cordoba is right in the center of the country.

Good idea to take a walking tour of historic Córdoba. I took similar walking tours in southern France last fall, in Marseille and Toulon. Both of these were organized by the local city tourist offices, and both were very informative. (Both were in French.)

Cordoba does look to be a good base, esp for transportation to other places.

Next time I'm here, I would like to drive here. I see they also have a memorial. All the best!

It seems fitting that I should visit your Córdoba page on the city's feast day!
I see what you mean Val, about the out-of-the-way places, this seems a charming city to visit. Thanks for the tour.

I guess one should try to visit Cordoba in the winter - maybe June or July?
