Definitely an upscale crowd, but this restaurant is gorgeous on the inside and the food was incredible. We started off with a cold seafood platter for two, everything on it was delicious, the oysters, lobsters, etc The steak is probably one of the best steaks I have ever had. I had a filet and it was just perfect. Tender, cooked perfectly, could not get a better steak
Favorite Dish: The filet - it was tender, and cooked perfectly. I added just a little of their fresh horseradish and it was to die for

Union Oyster House: Go for the history, not the food

Restaurant Name: Union Oyster House
The oldest restaurant in the country is wonderful to see and experience -- its has all these little rooms, narrow staircases, very charming. However, the food was mediocre at best. The chowder was the worst chowder we had in Boston - a place called Kennedy's Midtown (just near the main shopping area Macys, DSW, Filene's, etc) had chowder that blew the Oyster House out of the water. My crab cakes were two gigantic fried disappointments. The batter or something about how they fried them made them taste like they were frozen. The only good thing was the oysters
Favorite Dish: The oysters were very good here, fresh, good size, etc, etc I would suggest stopping in for a dozen just to check the place out, but I would not go back there for an entire meal

Mother Anna's: Best Italian, hands down

This place is fabulous - small, family owned and food that is so good, I have a hard time thinking of anywhere in the states with better Italian! Make reservations if you plan on going! This is about a 10 - 20 table place and it filled up quickly when we were there for a 5:30 reservation before the Celtics game.
Favorite Dish: The eggplant rollatini -- its kind of like a lasagna roll up, but instead of noodles, it is the thinnest, freshest eggplant wrapped around cheese and covered with red sauce. It was so light and refreshing, yet it still fulfilled my craving for Italian! Came with a side of pasta as well, and if you like eggplant, I highly recommend this dish. My husband had a fish special - salmon, and he said that it was also very good.

This place is a great bar with lots of seating... We went there twice, once for a snack, and then again the day we left just because we enjoyed the chowder so much. We had chowder, a lobster roll (sandwich), and a appetizer platter.... best 'bar' food I have had in a long time! And the wait staff were these cool chics with great senses of humor and very friendly The Bloody Mary's were pretty good too!
Favorite Dish: The Lobster Roll -- It was on a toasted bun, Lobster with a little mayo, some celery, and a little red onion. Completely excellent I also think they had the best chowder in any place we ate in Boston.....
