Old Market

Old Market - Filthy & smelly

It is impossible to browse for potential gifts
The shopkeepers dont let you, all the usual tricks & cons, they see us Brits coming, as we are not very good at being rude it is harder for us, la Shukran does not always work, Halas (enough) gets the message across, sometimes,
It is easier to not make any conversation and walk right past(they will realise you are British and launch an all out assault)
which does defeat the object if you want to shop.
So all I bought there was Safron, I was a wreck after that, despite staying around the corner, I saved Hundreds of pounds, I would have spent there because of the Hassle I did not need on a relaxing holiday
There are two entrances from the main road to the market
Anas

Sharm Airport, Anas is a star

After reading previous posts, I was dreading the journey home, but things have changed It was straightforward, a lot easier than UK
Lots of scanners etc, but really fast, originally we were told no liquids, but the Local guide said we could take a litre of liquid, we took in two cans coke, no problem.
Buy snacks/drinks prior to going to airport, very expensive, duty free prices in dollars, 200 cigs approx £12.00, litre booze approx £10
Dont trust departure displays, listen for tannoy, it is clear, if you have hearing problems talk to one of the airport staff in departures, very helpful (without sticking hands out for tips)
Look for Anas, (see photo) he works on departure desks, lovely kind Fella (say hello from Tom & Mary)
Kodak shop Old Market, brilliant

Kodak shop by the Old Market

This shop is on the main road between the two Old market entrances,
I can only say brilliant, all round, I messed up my underwater camera they sorted it and got the film out, and only charged for photo's that came out, 17 pics about £2.20,
I took in two films, one 24 ex & one 36 ex, and paid £7.06 for printing
Hubby bought me a new reusable underwater camera with flash and loaded film for £12.00,
They do digital stuff as well
No cons, no bartering, & friendly
