Formerly known as Northern Rhodesia, within the Fedaration of Rhodesia and Nyasaland,
Zambia is yet another landlocked African country - but one with a spectacular difference... The Vic Falls!
While almost 50% of its imports come from South Africa, Zambia attracts visitors from all over the world to witness the magnificence of the Victoria Falls. Known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya, it spreads 1708m wide - making it the largest curtain of water in the world. An average of 550 000 cubic metres of water per minute drop between 90 and 107m into the Zambezi Gorge - creating the smoke-that-thunders!
