There are walks to suit every ability from flat low levels strolls to an eight day hike (100miles) called the Beacons Way. There are 520 square miles of stunning landscape hills, mountains, rivers, lakes and waterfalls. My personal favourite is a hill called Pen Cerrig Calch (701m) takes about 4-5 hours to do a decent circular walk from Crickhowell and back. The Skirrid comes a close second but that is because I can walk from my house to do this interesting little hill.
Most people stop off or pass through Abergavenny (mouth of the river Gavenny) to get into the National Park. It is a great little town loads of good places to eat to suit all tastes and budgets (veggie dishes are a little hard to come by). Worth a visit are the castle, a Norman ruin, site of a gory massacre and a good little museum, The Priory Church, some unique monuments, a medevial carving of Jesse, and a fantastic tapestry done for the millenium. Just outside town there is a birds of prey centre, a vineyard and the World Heritage Site at Blaenavon
- Pros:Good walking, nice pubs, great food
- Cons:nothing to do on a wet sunday morning
- In a nutshell:Mountains, Markets and more....

Looks like a lovely place to live in. Might use your B&B if I ever am in the area. Happy Birthday!
