Salamanca is an attractive city located in Castille and Leon, about 2 1/2 hours from Madrid by regional train. Its claim to fame is its University, which dates back to the high middles ages, making it one of the oldest colleges in Europe. There are many other historic buildings scattered through the city. Many dating to the Rennaisance. As a result, Salamanca has some of the best examples of 15th and 16th Century architecture in the country. It is also yes another spanish city on the list of World Heritage Sites. |
