Carcassonne is a historic city located in SW France. It is divided into 2 distinct parts. The Bastide Saint Louis was commisioned by Louis IX in 1260. The other part is the main attraction, La Cite Medieval. The walled citadel from the Middle Ages.
Though both are intersting in their own right, it is the walled city that attracts most visitors. It is in fact one of the most visited areas in all of France. For anyone with an interest in Medieval Architecture and History, this is the place to go. |
