Site of Civil War Battle

For centuries before the coming of the white man, a giant Black Jack Oak Tree stood alone on the Missouri prairie, a landmark for the natives to this area. From this tree, the town of Lone Jack, Missouri took its name.

Located on US Highway 50 south and east of Kansas City and Lee's Summit is a growing town, now almost considered a suburb of Kansas City.

Its principle claim to fame is the Battle of Lone Jack being fought here during the US Civil War. My page will have several pictures from the battlefield area. In addition check out my travelogues for pictures taken during a reenactment event in August of 2003.
