Carefully Preserved Town

Ottawa is located on Interstate 35 a little better than an hour southwest of Kansas City. It is at once a little more progressive than most towns of its size in the region, but careful to preserve its heritage.

Noted architect George Putnam Washburn lived in Ottawa from 1879 until his death in 1922. There are a total of 15 Washburn-designed buildings in the city.

The community is home to Ottawa University, a small four-year Baptist college.

There's more than one Ottawa in N America, Our's is often ignored as tourists prefer the glam of TO or Montreal which are 4 and 3 hours by car. You've a VT welcome one man committee here waiting to welcome and meet you and your fine lady ;-)))

All these places are on the National Register of Historic Places. I hope to get them and the rest this weekend. Wish me good weather. Good pictures, Frank.
