Elk Falls, Kansas, is large enough to be a dot on a map but not be listed in the index. This village on US Highway 160 in Elk County, and while it might appear to be on its way to becoming a ghost town, there are some residents with dreams and several attractions. Included are a historic bridge, one of the few waterfalls in the state, a pottery maker in residence, and a colorful annual outhouse festival. In addition, a rock garden from the 20s and 30s has been uncovered and is in the process of being renovated. It is not yet open for public viewing.

Pros and Cons

Pros:Located along a pretty river in the rolling Chautaqua Hills.
In a nutshell:Worth a brief stop if you happen to be in the area.
