Leadville, Colorado

When I think of Leadville, Colorado, the first thing that comes to my mind is the story of Horace and Augusta Tabor and Horace's ill-fated love interest in Elizabeth "Baby" Doe, all brought to stage in Douglas Moore's outstanding American opera The Ballad of Baby Doe. More about that elsewhere on my Leadville page!

We came into Leadville on a day trip while staying in a mountain cabin near Salida, Colorado. Most will come here from places like Vail. Leadville, another of Colorado's 19th century mining boom-towns, has a number of interesting things to see and do.

The buildings shown are within the Leadville National Historic District.

Well done pages. Fascinating detail about the Hoarce Tabor - Baby Doe saga. I camped just outside of Leadville and did a little mountain climbing near there several years ago.
