Popular Destination | View of Garden of the Gods |
Colorado Springs is a popular destination with many of my friends and family. I have been there on several occasions, though usually passing through or for a very short stay, until June of 2003 when we were able to devote several days to visit the area.
There are a number of attractions in the area including Garden of the Gods, Pike's Peak, the Manitou Cliff Dwellings, and the US Air Force Academy (although it was closed to visitors due to a security alert during our stay). Colorado Springs is a good place to stay while making trips into the neighboring mountain areas and towns. |
| | Pike's Peak Second most-visited mountain summit in the world behind Mt. Fuji. Drive the toll road to the summit, or ride the world's highest cog railway to get there. |
Manitou Cliff Dwellings Located in nearby Manitou Springs, these restored, ancient cliff dwellings provide an interesting look into the lives of the native peoples. | | | Eagle dancer entertains and educates |

| Pros: | "Beautiful views, nice climate with clean mountain air." | | Cons: | "Becoming a city with city traffic. Areas around Manitou Springs are "touristy." Symphony Orchestra bankrupt." | | In A Nutshell: | "Would be a great place to live!!" |

Erin09340 Sat Apr 8, 2006 00:16 UTC Yeah, the service is really hit or miss. | kimod74 Mon Oct 17, 2005 02:50 UTC I would agree with your review of the Front Range BBQ. I have eaten there several times and while they have a nice little patio area and they do occasionally have bands/music (live), which invites a nice atmosphere, I find there BBQ to be TASTELESS!! | wisper39 Sun Oct 10, 2004 04:13 UTC The cliff dwellings are a must see for familys with young children say 5 years old on up. My girls loved going thru the old ruins and allways want to go back when we are in the area. adults will love this place also. |
