Beautiful Colorado Springs

Popular Destination

View of Garden of the Gods
Colorado Springs is a popular destination with many of my friends and family. I have been there on several occasions, though usually passing through or for a very short stay, until June of 2003 when we were able to devote several days to visit the area.

There are a number of attractions in the area including Garden of the Gods, Pike's Peak, the Manitou Cliff Dwellings, and the US Air Force Academy (although it was closed to visitors due to a security alert during our stay). Colorado Springs is a good place to stay while making trips into the neighboring mountain areas and towns.

Pike's Peak

Second most-visited mountain summit in the world behind Mt. Fuji. Drive the toll road to the summit, or ride the world's highest cog railway to get there.

Manitou Cliff Dwellings

Located in nearby Manitou Springs, these restored, ancient cliff dwellings provide an interesting look into the lives of the native peoples.

Pros:"Beautiful views, nice climate with clean mountain air."
Cons:"Becoming a city with city traffic. Areas around Manitou Springs are "touristy." Symphony Orchestra bankrupt."
In A Nutshell:"Would be a great place to live!!"

I would agree with your review of the Front Range BBQ. I have eaten there several times and while they have a nice little patio area and they do occasionally have bands/music (live), which invites a nice atmosphere, I find there BBQ to be TASTELESS!!

The cliff dwellings are a must see for familys with young children say 5 years old on up. My girls loved going thru the old ruins and allways want to go back when we are in the area. adults will love this place also.
