Winter resort and retirement center | Lake Havasu City, Arizona |
Lake Havasu City, Arizona, is located on a 40 mile long reservoir on the Colorado River that forms the boundary between California and Arizona. In recent years, the town has grown from a small village to a bustling town. It is a mecca for retired people, many of whom live there all year round, in spite of the fierce summer heat. At the same time, it is a popular family destination - particularly on weekends. The area has also been a favorite of college students on spring break, and developed a reputation as a riotous party spot. Local officials have taken steps, however, to see that Lake Havasu remains a place where families can relax in the sun.
My only visit was brief, the purpose being to take my daughter to visit her future in-laws at their family vacation spot. So, I did not have an opportunity to try any restaurants, the local lodging, or to take many photos. |
