Blanchard Springs

Lying in the heart of the Ozark National Forest, and about fifteen to twenty minutes north of Mountain View, Arkansas, is the Blanchard Springs Recreation Area. A popular destination within the park is Blanchard Springs, which can be reached by an easy five minute walk.

Blanchard Springs Caverns

The springs seen above flow from a yet undiscovered portion of the Blanchard Springs Caverns. Guided tours (3 difficulty levels) are available at the visitor's center.

North Sylamore Creek

This scenic swimming hole is downstream from the spring. The water is cool and crystal clear, offering many youngsters, maybe a few "oldsters", their first opportunity to swim in something other than a pool.

Pros and Cons

I worked in Blanchard Caves for a summer and fell in love with Arkansas. I'm glad to see that other people appreciated the cave's beauty. The last picture in the soda straw room is quite good!
