I spent a weekend in Istanbul, it's a modern, busy city with plenty of historic buildings & sights to keep you occupied for a few days.
My hotel was in the Sultanahmet area close to the Blue Mosque & Haghia Sophia, however the rest of the city was easily reached by tram.
- Pros:History all around you & a spectacular location.
