An island for those who like sun, sea & sand. Cayo Largo is 25 km long & has a surface area of 37.5 sq km. The coast is flat and the sand as white & fine as talcum powder. The sea is clear & still, ideal for swimming, sailing, diving or just sitting on a beach.

There are no villages on the island except those made for tourists, these contain hotels, restaurants & bars.

I visited the island on a day trip from Havana, the flight landed about 7.30am & departed about 6pm. Apart from going on a boat trip round the island, the rest of my time was spent at the beach. Walking along the white sand in the warm clear water or sat under a palm tree sheltering from the afternoon sun, it did feel like a tropical paradise. Some of the views were just out of a brochure or an advert. While sat under a palm tree I just had to ring friends in the UK to describe the scene.
