Penang Island was my first experience of anywhere tropical. I'd never known this type of heat. The vegetation was all new to me too. It was such a thrill to see so many types of fruit & vegetables growing in their natural habitat. That combined with the colours & smells of the fauna as well as glimpses of exotic wildlife made it such an enjoyable holiday.
Penang had eveything I wanted, beautiful beaches, jungle and historic temples. The capital Georgetown with its historic buildings, shops, markets and bustling streets was a delight to explore by day & night.
Since my visit I've been lucky enough to visit many other tropical destinations. Penang though is still one my favourites & I have many fond memories of it.
