Europe's most beautiful city | Canal in Mala Strana neighborhood |
Of the well known pretty cities in Europe I have been to - Paris, Zurich, Barcelona, Vienna, Copenhagen... it was Prague that ran away with the title. The coble stone streets, well kept buildings, towers, bridges, etc. blew me away. |
| | Cliches that deliver Yes, the Charles Bridge is photographed to death. And yes it can be crowded with tourists all day long. But it is still stunningly beautiful and well worth the trouble. |
Unfortunately, like Paris in more ways than one... Don't get me wrong, we very much enjoyed our visit to Prague. But we did find on many occasions that the local people were less than friendly. This was especially the case at a few restaurants. If the service was terrible, that was one thing we were able to put up with. When we would enter a restaurant and they would ignore us, seemingly hoping we would go away, we would oblige and find elswhere to eat. But when they were flat out rude (and this happened several times)... it got to the point where we had to wonder if Prague citizens were aware of the value of tourism in their city.
Then there's the fact 85% of taxis in Prague are dirty and will rip you off... 85%??? That's just wrong. | | | Hergetova Cihelna Rest.: great view, bad service |
