I think Bill Bryson was spot on when he said, "I can't think of anything that excites a greater sense of childlike wonder than to be in a country where you are ignorant of almost eveything." (By the way - read Bryson's Neither Here Nor There. It's a classic.)
I find myself full of contradictions. I love being in a place where I know nearly nothing about what is going on. On the other hand I find myself researching every vacation location to the point where I hope I feel I have been there for weeks before the trip has started.
Regardless, after relocating the first part of my life everywhere from Germany to Hawaii, I am now looking for the location. Any suggestions? I am open. |
