Turkey has it all.

Paragliding at Oludeniz

This is the beach we landed on, absolutely beautiful, eh? The strangest thing was the guy I was attached to answered his mobile phone right about now! Up there! They drive you up the mountain along a narrow winding road to the summit of Mount Babadag, which is 1, 800 metres. I swear the drive up is scarier than the jump. You can see Fethiye, which is where we stayed, from up there and the views all around are stunning. Strangely, of the 13 people on my trip I was the only one who did the paragliding. They don't know what they missed, it was definitely one of the highlights.
The other Kapadokya balloon

Up, up and away

A balloon ride in Cappadocia is like nowhere else. We went with Kapadokya Balloons in Goreme, and it was amazing. They have special racing balloons that can alter course, and go up and down very quickly. Our pilot took us so close to the formations we felt we could touch them, and at the end he landed us right on the flat bed truck.

If you like ancient ruins Turkey is the place

After spending 3 and a half weeks in Greece I was awestruck at what I'd seen, but Turkey was even better. From Istanbul we headed to Ankara and Cappadocia, which is a magical, not to be seen anywhere else, place. The underground cities at Derinkuyu are mind boggling. Aspendos Theatre is one of the best examples of Roman Theatre construction in the world. How did they do it, with no power tools and cranes. Demre, the home of the real Father Christmas, Saint Nicholas and the famous rock cut tombs. Xanthos, with yet another magnificent Theatre. Those Romans loved their Theatres. We visit Pamukkale, but I'm much more interested in the site of Hierapolis which was founded in 190BC, and was an important roman Bath centre. Ephesus is wonderful, I've never seen so many magnificent mosaic floors in such good condition. The slope houses are not to be missed. As with all tours you don't get long enough, I could have happily spent 2 full days here.
