Oh, I love Colorado. There is so much. I flew into Denver and one of my friends picked me up at the airport and we had the most amazing drive home. Over the mountains and a stop at a ski resort, with people skiing. Although it was the end of ski season they still had snow here at almost 12,000 feet altitude. I was lucky to get invited to stay in Grand Junction with river rat friends I met on my Grand Canyon rafting adventure. They took me all around the South West to Aspen, Telluride, Black Canyon, Mesa Verde, National Monument and more. There was snow in the mountains and sunny days in the valley. We sat in the hot tub outside while it was snowing at the Redstone Cliffs Lodge, highly recommend.
It is a spectacular place.

If you are in this part of Colorado a stay at Mesa Verde is a must. We spent 3 nights at Far View Lodge and you need this much time if you are going to see Balcony House, Spruce Tree House, Cliff Palace etc. The Rangers are excellent as everywhere in America. The cliff dwellings are awesome, just as fascinating as ancient Roman ruins elsewhere.
