The best thing to do is walk across or catch the horse-drawn wagon across to Granite Island and see the colony of little penguins. The best time to see the penguins is in the early evening around 7pm, as the penguins return home from sea to feed their chicks. (Make sure you take some warm clothes, it can get very chilly with the sea winds.)

Things To Do: The Heysen Trail

For some awesome scenery take a walk on the �Heysen Trail� which can be connected to just past the Bluff or at Parsons beach or Newland Headlands.(A must do). You can walk this track to Cape Jervis but it takes a couple of days, camping areas are available for keen bushwalkers. Pick up the map from the tourist information centre in Victor Harbour.

Take a drive through Coorong National Park to the mouth of the Murray River. The town of Goolwa has important historical value in Australian history. It was once the only place in Australia that stream trains and paddle steamers took produce for shipping overseas. Goolwa was also once a busy river port the last on the Murray River before it reached the ocean. So, the town is covered in beautiful historical buildings with an abundance of fascinating facts and history.

All ferries leave from Cape Jervis to Kangaroo Island which is approx 35mins drive from Victor Harbour.

Coaches also go from Adelaide 101 Franklin Street Adelaide on the Sealink Connection. Coaches depart Adelaide at 6.45am or 3.45pm to connect with the ferry at Cape Jervis at 9.00am or 6pm. Certain hotels in Adelaide also have pick-ups.

The other ferry line is called "Spirit of Kangaroo Island" which leaves Cape Jervis at 10.00am/ 1pm/ 4pm and 7pm.

Coaches also depart from Victor Harbour and Goolwa. - 6.50am Departs Sun, Mon, Tues, Thur and Friday. to connect with the 9.00am ferry to Kangaroo Island.

Just near the bridge to Granite Island you will see the camels on the beach. Take a ride along the foreshores of the harbour a fabulous way to see a little more of Victor Harbour.

Victor Harbor is one of the best places in Australia for Whale watching. The whales migrate to South Australia waters between June and October. They often come very close to shore at Encounter Bay and its a common to sight a whale in migrating season.

In Victor Harbor you will find the SA Whale Center which has heaps of information and details about whale sightings.
