Eurotel Hotel (Guardia Vieja 285 Providencia.): Terrific apartment.

  • Eurotel Hotel – Providencia Santiago

Our room 240 is not in the hotel but directly across the road in apartment block which looks rather ordinary. We were wondering what small hovel we where going to encounter. Seeing the hotel looks rather flash and modern we decided because we had chosen the cheapest rate (US95) our expectations had to be lowered. To our great surprise our room or better to say was a two bedroom spacious apartment! A roomy lounge room, complete kitchen, two bedrooms, two contemporary bathrooms, internet connection, air-conditioning, dining table, CD player, modern furniture, great position…two minutes from department stores, shops, cafes, restaurants and transport. So what incredible VALUE.

We are still wondering if we got the wrong booking…we are certainly not going to ask or complain. So one must ask for apartment across from hotel to get value. We noticed rates in Hotel were much higher (US150 – 195).Our booking was done through Hotel Cap Ducal in Vina Del Mar so speaking in Spanish may have done the trick.

Pros: Remarkable value, handy position, trendy area, apartment not room. It’s a MUST. Restaurant Hotel Euro café is terrific for lunch a three course meal for $10.00 seems to be the IN place to eat. Excellent place if you have extra guest or children. Metro close by. Breakfast included, safety box, magnetic key in security building, working desk. 30 minutes to airport. Shopping centre and Malls around the corner. Money exchange.

Cons: No mini bar but fridge, supermarket down the road to get vino etc. We highly recommend this hotel especially this apartment. (ROOM 240)No coffee or tea facilities but does have a kettle. (Supermarket list)

    What to do:

Hotel Orly offers tours through About Tours, most languages spoken. Full day, half day tours. Drinks at Braniganns. Lunch at Euro café, dinner at Liguria restaurant (2 doors down from Hotel Orly) food was fab seemed to be the IN place to eat as it was incredibly crowded. Recommendation: Absolutely.

    Orly Hotel: Elegant boutique hotel.

Small, romantic, elegant boutique Hotel in Provincia. (Like a Parisian Hotel) Good position between city (Centro) and Las Condos. Two minutes walk to shops, cafés and restaurants. Hotel rooms are very small but elegantly furnished. Bathroom is tiny with shower, hairdryer, shampoo, soap etc.

Safe but no lock but fridge has key device so we locked our valuables in fridge. No coffee or tea facilities but afternoon tea is provided by hotel in breakfast room. Staff helpful and organized tours for us with About Tours. We did a half day tour and our guide spoke excellent English and was extremely informative and helpful.
Breakfast was good especially the eggs.

    Overall view.

Pros: Good position. Organized tours. Close to nightlife and cafes. Plenty of Bank exchanges, better position than say larger hotels as Marriott, Sheraton etc...Etc... As they are not close to anything. Internet café next door. Laundry service. Quaint boutique hotel with a lovely atmosphere. Nicer than city area. Supermarket handy, wine shop, chemist etc.etc.

Cons: Don’t get room 31 – its noisy looking over busy street. Ask for back or middle room. No coffee or tea facilities. No lock on safe. Rooms are very small. No internet connection from room. Bathroom so small my husband knees hit the wall. Windows are hard to open. Chile power plugs are weird – three in line plug. Small lift.
