What captures my heart

by Openseas - last update: Jun 3, 2008

a moment seeps into my ordinary life
which captures my whole essence.

Sydney

Sydney is my home, and what better place to call home , blessed with such raw honesty and diversity, Sydney is a treasure chest , holding incredible richness and beauty in the fragments of the harbour and foreshores.

The beaches hugging the Pacific Ocean , the summer days filled with surprises, enriching the essence of the sun , glistening fragments of light filtering over Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House are truely enchanting.Sydney is a city full of playfulness, entertainment , sophistication, mixed with a lively cosmopolitan casual lifestyle.Sydney is sexy and seductive, a gorgeous dazzling spectrum of beauty bathing beneath the morning sun.

Bellagio- Italy

Bellagio is absolutely gorgeous with breathtaking views of Lake Como and surrounding hills and villages, one immediately surrenders to its beauty and uniqueness. Bellagio lies on the elegant foreshores of Lago Di Como at the southern end where the lake bifurcates.

The village of Bellagio oozes with charm and character with its romantic cobble lanes, streets and architectural classical Italian buildings, this Italian town is truely a must to visit while exploring Lake Como.

Beautiful Bellagio
breathing sweet suggestions of romance below
cobble stony streets smile uniquely so
for you are truly beautiful Bellagio.

If only I had known you long ago
surely you would have shown me your lakeside treasures
and pleasures of Menaggio, Varenna, and Lecco,
for your beauty beholds me, my beautiful beloved Bellagio
a perfect moment

Out of Africa

The landscape in Pilanesberg Park is awesome, made up over 55,000 hectares of rolling plains and situated within an extinct volcanic cater and surrounded by hills creating a natural boundary. The long wheat grasses edge themselves beside the dirt road, low wooded trees scattered amongst the hazy heated terrain melt into the hill ,which surround the grassy level plains. The sunshine filters light on the mellow yellow grasses and camouflages the animals in the heat of the African sunshine.

We followed the dirt road, eyes focused to hopefully catch a glimpse of any animal, whom might be on display, in a few moments, we spotted some Springboks, and a dozen deer roaming carelessly and freely, just a few feet from us. After taking a few photos we turned our heads and to our bewilderment and humour, a beautiful elegant giraffe was quietly feeding on a tree beside us, a truly awesome sight.

We continued on our little dirt road to see three Hippo’s silently sleeping on the edge of the hill, you could almost miss them, as they look so similar to large rocks, We drove along for another hour ending up at another waterhole, along the banks were huge turtles sun baking undisturbed by the noisy pecking of birds adjacent to them.Trying to find animals is extremely difficult, as they are so well camouflaged into the terrain, a truly amazing feat of mother nature.

Peru

Lima is a fascinating place to visit full with lively streets, museums, churches, culture, history, markets, interesting districts, burial sites, archaeological treasures and wonderful beaches. Its a busy congested city with over 8 million people it offers travelers an unique magical unforgettable experience.

Miraflores.

Miraflores is the place to visit in Lima. It’s the safest area and excellent for tourists and visitors. It’s a wonderful place to stroll around with exciting interesting shops, cafes and restaurants.

A must do is visiting the markets with Peruvians selling their artefacts all dressed in traditional clothing. It’s located on the intersection of Avenue Arequipa and Pardo at the main plaza. The Calle de las Pizzas (Pizza Street) are the favourite place for the locals and teenagers to hang out.Miraflores also houses the pre-Inca mud brick temple called Huaca Pucallana one of many archaeological sites found in Lima.

Barranco

Barranco is the traditional summer district and resort of Lima. There are some interesting museums and historical landmarks to found here like the Puente de los Suspiros" a 19th century wooden structure which leads down to the beach.

It’s a wonderful district to visit for sightseeing, eating and drinking. Many of Lima's best restaurants are found in this region
Desert and reef.

Ningaloo Reef - Australia

Coral Bay is the southern gateway to the Ningaloo Marine Park and offers travellers an unique experience with its diversity of marine life. The main attraction is swimming with the Whale Sharks, which visit every year between April to July.

Ningaloo reef is one of the few places in the world which they appear regularly. Humpback Whales are also a major attraction and can be seen between June and November.

Other marine life include the majestic Manta rays, reef sharks, marine turtles, including Hakesbills and Loggerheads, plus over 600 species of fish and more than 300 species of coral. Between October to March watch the many reef sharks playing in the shallow waters of the beach.
Beauty beholds the beautiful
like a child playing blissfully alone
holding hands happily
eternally together water and sand.

Lady Musgrave Island - Australia.

Lady Musgrave Island is apart of the Bunker Group of Island which lies 50 miles north of Bundaberg in Queensland Australia. This tiny island is a natural wonder a lagoon that stretches for miles within the Great Barrier Reef. The island is set on 3000 acres of living reef with a deepwater coral lagoon which is unique to the entire Great Barrier Reef Region.

The beautiful clear turquoise aqua blue waters with dazzling coral beds dominate the lagoon. This island is truly magical; one could literally stay here for days. We stayed for two days on our yacht and just had a wonderful experience.

The bird life on Lady Musgrave is incredibly interesting as the majority of the birds are called Noddies and live in the Pisonias trees which actually can kill the birds by their sticky resin which traps the Noddies in their nests.

It seems so incredibly cruel but its natures way of keeping control of their
environment. ( the trees.....take control !)

If you do ever have the absolute opportunity to visit Lady Musgrave Island then its not the coral or the sheer beauty of the coral lagoon that takes your breath away, its the pure natural logical essence that slips you into the uncertainty about life and the sheer endless phantom notion that we could be ridiculously everlasting.

Its only at this island did I truly understand the powerful force which lies underneath nature and the universe.

Who am I, just a breeze that slips silently seductively into you
can I reach out to change my predicament or am I just me
a hollow tree whispering nothingness to my empty soul
endlessly hoping for my freedom and role."

Seriously great homepage (and travel pages). Have you swam (or swum?) with the whale sharks at Ningaloo? That's on my to do list for sure.
